Sara Lee Frozen Bakery is extending its Sweet Moments single-serve dessert platform with six new SKUs — three Individual Four-Layered Cheesecakes and three Individual Cakes — shipping to retail this fall, the Oakbrook Terrace, Ill.-based supplier announced.

The expansion follows the 2025 launch of Sweet Moments Cobblers, which the company says now account for more than one-third of Sara Lee's fruit pie business and rank among the top dollar-velocity items in the frozen dessert category. The Cobbler Cups line is currently distributed in more than 5,000 stores, including Walmart, Albertsons, Publix, Wakefern, and H-E-B.

The New SKUs

The cheesecake trio — Strawberry Shortcake, Lemon Blueberry, and Fudgey Brownie — layers creamy cheesecake filling with sauces, toppings, and graham or shortcake-style crusts. The cake set — Gooey Butter Cake, Chocolate Chip Brookie, and Cinnamon Caramel Crunch — is designed to deliver a warm, fresh-from-the-oven experience in 20–30 seconds in a microwave, a format already proven by the Cobbler Cups' 60-second heat-and-eat mechanic.

"We believe the next wave of growth in the frozen bakery category will come from creating more occasions to enjoy it," said Johnni Rodgers, Chief Marketing Officer at Sara Lee Frozen Bakery. "The category has traditionally been centered around celebrations and special occasions, but consumers are increasingly looking for smaller, more frequent moments of indulgence that fit into everyday life."

Why C-Store Operators Should Watch

For c-store foodservice and grab-and-go buyers, the Sweet Moments format checks several boxes relevant to the channel. Individual portions eliminate the multi-serving commitment that slows frozen dessert trial in a one-and-done purchase environment. The heat-and-eat mechanic requires no back-of-house baking infrastructure — a practical advantage for single-store operators running lean kitchen setups. And the premium positioning aligns with the dispensed-beverage and roller-grill upsell logic already embedded in most forecourt-to-counter traffic patterns.

Director of Marketing Derek Wong pointed to three converging consumer trends underpinning the platform: smaller household sizes, the cultural rise of "little treat" consumption, and the growing adoption of GLP-1 medications — all of which, he said, are pushing shoppers toward smaller, more flexible portions regardless of their individual motivations. That behavioral shift echoes what NACS and category researchers have flagged as a structural tailwind for single-serve and better-for-you snack formats at convenience retail.

The frozen dessert aisle has long been a secondary consideration for c-store category managers relative to dispensed beverages and packaged sweet snacks, but high-velocity single-serve items with a heat-and-eat element are increasingly earning freezer-door real estate at larger-format operators. Sara Lee's Cobbler Cups distribution footprint — built largely through grocery — gives the brand established proof-of-concept velocity data that retail buyers at regional chains can evaluate against their own category performance.
