Irvine, Calif.-based Innovative Beverage Concepts has grown 31% since 2021 — including 17.1% year-over-year — as its MOCAFE®, TEAOLOGY®, and MODERN OATS® brands extend their reach across foodservice channels including convenience retail, restaurants, hotels, and university food operations. The milestone coincides with the company's 30th anniversary, founded in 1996 by Richard Principale and Peter Scialdone.

The Numbers

The 31% cumulative growth figure reflects expanding distribution rather than a single contract win. IBC supplies specialty beverage mixes — frappes, mochas, chai, matcha, hot chocolate, smoothies, and refreshers — to operators who need café-quality output with back-of-house simplicity. For c-store operators building out dispensed beverage and specialty coffee programs, that operational profile is the pitch: consistent yield, fast prep, and a margin-friendly menu addition without trained barista labor.

Loyalty and Pipeline

IBC is rolling out MoPerks™, a new customer loyalty and engagement program aimed at cafés, restaurants, distributors, and foodservice operators. The program will offer participating accounts exclusive promotions, rewards, educational resources, and business-building tools — a structure similar to supplier-side loyalty plays that have gained traction across foodservice distribution over the past several years. The company says a robust pipeline of new specialty beverage products is slated for introduction over the next 12 months, developed to address emerging consumer preferences and give operators differentiated menu opportunities.

Channel Context

Specialty and café-inspired beverages remain one of the faster-moving inside-sales categories at the forecourt. NACS data has consistently pointed to dispensed and packaged beverages as a top traffic driver for convenience operators competing against quick-service chains on morning and afternoon dayparts. IBC's positioning — premium ingredients, simplified prep — maps directly onto the operational constraints most c-store foodservice programs face when scaling a coffee or blended-drink menu without a dedicated café footprint.

"When we founded Innovative Beverage Concepts 30 years ago, our vision was straightforward: create exceptional products that coffee professionals would be proud to serve while helping operators build stronger, more profitable businesses," said Richard Principale, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer. Co-Founder and Vice President Peter Scialdone added that the specialty beverage industry "continues to present tremendous opportunities for operators seeking differentiated, premium beverage solutions."

With distribution expanding in North America and select international markets, IBC enters its fourth decade with three established brands, a growing operator customer base, and a product development program targeting emerging beverage trends before they hit mainstream menus.
